Is your first semester starting soon? To help you get off to a good start with your studies, the University of Vienna offers orientation courses, workshops and other activities for new students.
We’ve put together all the information about the Welcome Weeks for you.
There you’ll find important information about your studies as well as helpful tips for everyday student life. Make the most of the wide range of activities on offer and get to know the university!

At the orientation courses (OV), you’ll find out everything you need to know about your degree programme.

Get to know the university and take a guided tour of the main building. Or take part one of our exciting workshops.

At the start of the semester, the unileben education fair invites all students to the Main Building. You’ll find interesting exhibitors, tips for your studies and community corners: it’s well worth a visit!

Orientation courses
How is my degree programme structured? What are the next steps? How does semester planning and the exams in the introductory and orientation period (STEOP) work? These questions will be answered at the orientation courses (OV) for your degree programme. At many locations, there are additional welcome events alongside the OV. The programme is constantly being updated, so do check back from time to time!

Guided tours
Does the main building seem like a maze? Don’t worry: after a guided tour, you’ll find your way through the corridors and stairwells with ease.
Dates and booking:
Guided tours will take place from September onwards. The booking link and exact dates will be published here as soon as they are available. The meeting point is at the porter’s desk in the auditorium in the main building of the University of Vienna.
Couldn’t get a spot? The “Uni Wien Guides” app offers a virtual tour with plenty of background information in German and English.
